Sadako VS Drosselmeyer

Thor Gundersen and Friendly Neighborhood Imp are my two favorite VS debaters for a handful of reasons, and one of them is that they tend to make VS strategy guides on the best characters to take down some of their favorite verses.

That on its own is by no means an easy task, and these two certainly prove that.

Sadako Yamamura was difficult character for Thor to find counters for,

Drosselmeyer made his entire verse a challenge to take down,

So why not decide who would win between them if they were to fight each other?

Stats are probably not the biggest factor in this debate especially, but regardless, I’ll showcase them to see how they stack up against each other.

For Sadako, she’s roughly around Building Level in terms of strength and durability, being able to shake buildings with her strikes, survive tons of debris falling onto her as shown above, and can rip people apart like paper.

Speedwise, she and Bunshin could rapidly travel across a mountain range. The feat isn’t specified beyond that, but it’s likely somewhere within the Hypersonic to Massively Hypersonic speed range, depending on the size of the range and speed they traveled at.

As for Drosselmeyer, he was capable of casually creating the Raven, an entity that took up the horizon, dwarfed a town and contained a desert inside of him, all of which would be pretty high into the town level range, while speedwise, he would only be comparable to other characters moving at faster than eyesight, which would be Subsonic.

So overall, Sadako would be faster, while Drosselmeyer would be stronger, though if you count Sadako creating storms as part of her physical stats, she would similarly reach Town to City Level strength.

As for other stats, neither of which have much skill, with Sadako fighting like a wild animal,

while Drosselmeyer never fought someone directly in general, so Sadako does technically have the edge.

Intelligence wise, Sadako is capable of manipulating roughly type 1 tech that can harm her otherwise,

while Drosselmeyer made a machine to manipulate the plot, which would be Type 4 tech, giving him an edge in intelligence, nevermind his knowledge of the 4th wall that Sadako knows nothing about.

In terms of range, it’s interesting as Drosselmeyer only seems to be able to affect one town with his plot haxes, while Sadako can seemingly teleport around the world, but both of them also have powers beyond one traditional universe… we’ll get to that later, but Sadako probably has a ranged edge.

Stamina is meaningless given how they're both undead.

But that’s not the biggest factor. That would be their haxes, and they both have a lot of really broken ones.

Drosselmeyer’s normal form is a ghost, which is imperceptible to humans and intangible to harm for them as well.

That might sound impressive, and it certainly bypasses Sadako’s death-based attacks, since Drosselmeyer is already dead…

but it alone means nothing to Sadako, as she can just absorb souls.

Similarly, she can harm entities on the mental plane, even higher than the astral given how Drosselmeyer’s mind and personality remain the same as it was in his life.

The real problem is that Drosselmeyer’s primary location is the Gap in Time, implied to be beyond space and time itself, or is at least a separate dimension.

For the record, Sadako has this too, as her true soul is within another dimension, however there is no implication that this also exists outside of spacetime.

This would also render Sadako’s clairvoyance useless, as it at most allowed her to see the future, but not those outside of it entirely, meaning Drosselmeyer can certainly take her by surprise, and likely just keep a massive distance away from her, and be basically impossible to hit, at least with the higher end interpretation.

If you assume the lower end that Drosselmeyer is just a ghost in another dimension, then things get more fair. Not only would he be vulnerable to many of her Soul and Mind haxes, but since his dimension contains a lot of mirrors to look into the real world, it’s likely Sadako can exploit this and duplicate herself rapidly, and escape into his world, especially since she can similarly create dimensional portals.

That said, even in this scenario, Drosselmeyer’s own form of duplication can likely counteract this, and like I said, given Drosselmeyer’s higher intelligence and that Sadako’s clairvoyance wouldn’t work, I think it’s more likely for him to keep a distance and get the drop on Sadako than vice versa, especially since Drosselmeyer would likely play the long game and observe just how long Sadako’s tragic tale would go on for.

He also can stop time, transmutate foes, and of course, alter the plot, all of which Sadako has no counter to.

Summary:

Drosselmeyer

  • Smarter

  • Existing beyond Space-Time keeps him out of Sadako’s range

  • It also negates Sadako’s advantage in speed

  • Astral form makes him immune to death haxes

  • Plot Hax especially can one shot Sadako

Sadako

  • Stronger

  • Faster

  • More Skilled

  • Can affect ghosts with Soul and Mind haxes

  • Might be able to breach Drosselmeyer’s dimension with his mirrors

Simply put, while both of these two fighters have a lot of haxy options, Drosselmeyer’s are just significantly more overpowered, with a primary offense and defense that Sadako has no and very debatable counterplay to, as well as his higher intelligence making it significantly more likely he can exploit his one-shot option first, meaning Drosselmeyer would put an end to Sadako’s tragic tale.

The Winner is Drosselmeyer.
